Hey there! There's a good chance that by now you might know that we are going through the steps of growing our family through adoption! If you are new here, "HI! We are the Myers!! We met in 2014 in South Dakota, We were married in 2018 in Wisconsin, had our daughter Marnie in 2021, bought a house in Kaukauna in 2022 (with the anticipation of growing our family), and began the adoption journey in January of 2023. Jacob is a firefighter for the city of Oshkosh and Daya is a stay at home mom! Early in our marriage we discussed and agreed that we were both interested in adopting and we are so excited to make that a reality now! We both dreamed of having a big family and we’ve seen first hand the great need for children to be welcomed into loving homes through Jacobs career and Daya’s volunteer work. Due to health complications our ability to grow our family naturally slowed down after we brought Marnie into this world, but we are persistent and at the end of the day it doesn't matter how a family is formed or where the children came from, it only matters where they belong and how they are loved.

Where we are at in the process

The adoption process began for us in January 2023, which started with two phases of paperwork, applications, background checks, and more. To put this into perspective, I think we have gone through a package of printer paper and at least two rounds of ink!! After that began the self paced and in person education. In the state of Wisconsin to be eligible for adoption you must first be a licensed foster care provider. After we completed our education requirements we began meetings with our assigned social worker. We met with her three times total, the last of which was a home study where she gave her seal of approval. We have now received our license in the mail from the state and at that point we are officially listed and eligible. One of the last steps we completed was creating family book. These books will be located in both the Appleton and Milwaukee Offices and available for expectant mothers to view. We will also be working on a short video that will be featured on the Agency's website and shareable through their facebook page.

The adoption fees can be daunting to even comprehend. There are no payment plan options through the agency and fees are due immediately at each stage, otherwise we cannot continue. There are many adoption grants throughout the country that we are currently applying for, this isn't a guarantee but even one approved grant could make a world of difference. We are grateful to you for taking the time to get to know us a little bit more. We realize that you may be feeling many different emotions at this time, and we want you to know that we will be supportive towards you as well as your child. We will care about you, too. This is a lifelong journey, and we hope you may consider us to be a part of it. We put together this book with hopes that you would feel the love, laughter, and joy in our daily lives and our adventures, so that you can imagine what a life could be like for your child.

Adoption is how we have chosen to continue to grow our family. We had planned on adopting regardless of what our fertility journey looked like. Although we were fortunate to conceive our daughter naturally our luck ended with her, and that's OK because its all part of the journey, and we are pretty good at appreciating how our story has been written by God himself. Besides, it doesn't matter how our family is formed, It's about growing our family in a way that brings more joy and love into this world, blending our current traditions with new ones that represent our adopted child, and creating a space where all members of our family feel loved, valued, and have a sense of belonging.

We acknowledge that you have a very important role in your child's life and we would like to have an open adoption so that your child will know their story We'd love to learn more about your hopes and wishes for your child and discover how we can come together to create a life filled with unconditional love and support for them. It is important to us that we honor your wishes towards what level of openness you would like to have in your child's life.
